SMAC112 Cold Weather Flying

Carl, Eric, Larry, Tom and Russ are here for this episode to warm your heart for aviation in this cold weather. Eric is currently in Washington, D.C. working on the new Airman Certification Standards with an FAA working group, and he’s not used to it being this cold! Larry is even colder weather where it is 1 degree!

Flying - A Dog's POV of an IFR Flight Lesson

Yesterday around noon, Turbo and I hopped in the plane along with my CFI for a practice IFR flight. As many pilots do, I wanted to record the flight, however, I added a twist. I wanted to show Turbo the Flying Dog's fans what it is like from his point of view. Much to his disdain, Turbo was loaded into the back of the plane with his doggie GoPro harness on!

First Flight of the New Year

What better way to break in the new year than with a flight? Unbelievably, it had been since August that I had flown with JJ to get instrument current and I decided no more slacking, it's time to get 'er done! The universe tried to delay me again, however, as I woke up with stuffed sinuses. But I would not let that stop me and head to the airport regardless of how I felt. I was excited, too, because the panel in the Cessna was updated to include a mounted Garmin 796 complete with ADSB weather and traffic.
